Washington County ATHENA Award Presented

Thursday afternoon saw the Washington County ATHENA Award get presented for the 19th time. Five women were nominated for the award this year. The list included Lisa Hannum, CEO of Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA; Laura Jacob, Superintendent of the California Area School District; Lisa Scarmazzi, Director of Economic Development for the Borough of Canonsburg; Katie Unger-Chipps, Executive Director of Leadership Washington County and finally Mindy Zatta, Private Wealth Advisor at Astyr Wealth. The honor of this year’s award went to Katie Unger-Chipps. She states that the award will motivate her to continue to have a positive impact on women and leadership and to adapt the leadership of Leadership Washington County to the ever changing atmosphere of business. The ATHENA Young Leadership Award went to Brandi Miller, Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Southwestern PA. Two scholarships were awarded as well. Haley Berry of Waynesburg University and Olivia Zampedro of Wheeling University received their awards to further their educations in the business world.
