Washington Man Avoids Robbery & Assault Charges

A Washington man will not face trial on robbery and assault charges. Adam Sykora, 38 avoided felony robbery and aggravated assault charges on Wednesday, when the victim refused to press charges. According to the criminal complaint, Sykora was accused of pointing a knife and robbing a woman when she arrived at his residence on March 29. Sykora allegedly took her bank cards and approximately $100 in cash. When police arrived, Sykora pointed the knife at them before he was taken into custody. The victim’s bank cards were found in Sykora’s home. Sykora was free on a $50,000 bond. Earlier this week, Sykora appeared at a separate preliminary hearing and waived retail theft charges to court. He is accused by police of shoplifting $388 worth of merchandise over the course of 10 months at the Walmart in South Strabane Township. He will be arraigned on those charges on May 25.
