The swimming pool at Washington Park has not been in operation for two years. City Council heard a report from Park Director DeAnna Martin on Thursday that has them hopeful that the pool will be opening on time this year. Martin stated that electrical issues discovered have been rectified and the pool will begin to be filled on Monday. That will allow staff to determine if all of the pumps and filters are still in working order. Martin says that they are operating as if the pool will be opening by taking applications for lifeguards and concession workers. The city is offering training to get lifeguards certified. Martin went on to tell council that they are the recipients of lightly used furniture compliments of Nevillewood Country Club. The park received 70 chairs and 8 new tables and chairs. In other city business, council approved the hire of Donn Henderson as City Administrator. Henderson most recently served as township manager/treasurer for Sewickley Township. He takes over for Lynn Galluze who retired in October.
