A Waynesburg woman is set for a preliminary hearing next week after being accused of severely assaulting her 18-month-old stepson. According to the Observer-Reporter, Delaney Girvin, 24, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and other charges after the child’s grandmother noticed a contusion on the boy’s head and bruises after a visit in May. According to the Criminal Complain, Girvin said the boy received the injuries by falling “a couple of times.” The grandmother took the boy to a hospital where the staff there found a skull fracture and bruising. Pennsylvania State Troopers were called in and charges were filed. Girvin’s bail was set at $75,000. She is free after posting a self-surety bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
