Fort Cherry rolled post Cornell, setting up a showdown with Bishop Canevin for the top spot in the Black Hills Conference. Matt Sieg threw for three touchdowns, all to Shane Cornali in the win. Monessen’s win at Chartiers-Houston all but eliminates the upstart Bucs from contention. West Greene rallied last past Bentworth to grab control of the third playoff spot in the the Tri-County South. Avella’s road win pulls the Eagles into a tie with Bentworth. Jeff-Morgan & California remain unbeaten in the league and on a collision course for Week 9 at California.
Wash High held off Keystone Oaks while Waynesburg beat Carlynton in overtime, creating a three-way tie for second a game back of unbeaten Seton-La Salle. Trinity lost at Thomas Jefferson while Ringgold fell at Laurel Highlands. TJ is unbeaten in the league, Ringgold is winless, and the other four teams are all 1-1 with three weeks left to play. Peters Township rallied in the second half to win at Moon after trailing 14-7 at intermission. Canon-McMillan blew a 17-point third quarter lead and lost a crucial Quad-County game at Seneca Valley, dealing a serious blow to the Big Macs playoff hopes.
