Canon-McMillan lost to Central Catholic but clinched a playoff spot with Norwin’s win over Mt. Lebanon. The Big Macs finished in a three-way tie with Seneca Valley and Mt. Lebanon but own wins over both, earning CM a spot in the semifinals in two week against Central Catholic. Peters Township finished the regular season unbeaten, won the Allegheny Six championship and will have a bye in the first round of the 5A tournament. Trinity closed the season with five straight wins, winning the outright 4A Big Six title. Wash High lost in the 2A Century Conference title game and a shot at a first round bye. Waynesburg’s win over Sto-Rox puts the Raiders in the 2A wild card discussion. Fort Cherry rolled to the Black Hills title and possibly the 1A top seed. The Rangers are the two-time defending champions. Chartiers-Houston tuned up for their first playoff game in four years with a non-conference win. California rallied from a halftime deficit at Jeff-Morgan to win the game and the Tri-County South title. Bentworth’s win clinches second place for the Bearcats. Avella, in fourth place in six-way discussion for FOUR wild card spots. The Eagles are 6-4, along with Monessen and Frazier, the best records among the group.
