1A Girls McConnellsburg > Bentworth, 2-0 Watch/Listen Here!
The Bentworth girls could never regain the intensity that led them to the WPIAL championship last week, and that set the stage for District 5 runner-up McConnellsburg’s win over the Bearcats. Marin DeShong took a feed from Margaret McKelvy and buried it in an empty net in the 28th minute. Emma Gordon’s goal from DeShong in the 64th minute sealed the win for the Spartans.
1A Boys Bentworth > Mercyhurst Prep, 3-1 Watch/Listen Here!
Blake Lusk and Ryan Moessner each tallied a goal and an assist as the Bentworth boys eliminated Mercyhurst Prep for the second straight season. Lusk chipped a ball into the penalty box, setting up Adam Moessner’s blistering turning kick into the net. The Lakers tied the match with about 3:30 to play in the half. Ryan Moessner scored just 2:40 into the second half with Lusk adding the insurance marker about 20 minutes later. The Bearcats will face Winchester Thurston, a 6-0 winner at Brockway. Bentworth / Winchester Thurston will play Saturday, 5:30 pm at Peters Township.
