The WPIAL Soccer playoff got underway Thursday with Belle Vernon’s win over Ringgold in 3A Boys preliminary round action. Saturday, Bentworth was the only winner among four Washington County boys teams in first round action. The League’s first round continues Monday & Tuesday with quarterfinals set to begin on Wednesday. Those match-ups include eight remaining boys teams from Washington County, along with five local girls squads plus Waynesburg. Peters Township, Canon-McMillan, Bentworth and Chartiers-Houston have teams in both boys and girls. Trinity, McGuffey, Charleroi and Beth-Center boys, along with the Ringgold & Waynesburg girls, also made the tournament. Peters Township is #1 seed on both 4A brackets. Canon-McMillan boys are #8 in the 4A bracket. The defending champion Bentworth boys are #1 in their bracket while the Bearcats’ girls team is #2. WPIAL Soccer Brackets
