With only days left in the baseball & softball regular season, only a handful of playoff spots remain unclaimed. The final day of the softball regular season is Wednesday. Baseball ends on Thursday. The top six teams in 6A softball qualify. Every other section in softball and baseball will advance the top four teams plus unbreakable ties to the post-season. WPIAL brackets are due to be released late this week with playoff games starting next Monday. In baseball action Monday, Canon-Mac locked up its section title outright with a win. Trinity qualified thanks to South Fayette’s sweep of Upper St. Clair. Fort Cherry handled business, clinching a spot with a win over Jeff-Morgan, ending the Rockets hopes. On the softball side, McGuffey clinched a berth without playing when Brownsville lost to South Park. Charleroi pulled even atop 2A Section 3 with its second win of the year over OLSH. Chartiers-Houston locked up second place in 1A Section 2 while Jeff-Morgan clinched with a win over Mapletown, eliminating the Maples. Weather permitting, we’ll bring home the crucial games for teams trying to get in. Listen on-air on WJPA-AM (1450) or Listen Here!
