The three-week sprint to the finish of the high school basketball season has begun. Peters Township split its home girls/boys doubleheader with Baldwin. The Defending WPIAL 5A girls lost, falling two games back of the final playoff spot with four games to play. On the boys side, the hosts knocked Baldwin a game back of the final playoff spot heading down the stretch. Thomas Jefferson swept its doubleheader at Trinity, both winners still unbeaten in section play. The Trinity girls are in good shape for the playoffs but the boys are in trouble, 1.5 games back with just four to play. In 2A Section 3, the five teams in playoff position have at least three games’ cushion on the rest of the section, each with five games remaining. Chartiers-Houston, Jeff-Morgan, Fort Cherry, Beth-Center and West Greene are all closing in on clinching post-season berths. Here’s the Tuesday section scores for Washington & Greene County teams.
