Former Pirate Gene Clines Dead At 75

The Pirates have announced that former player Gene Clines has died. A sixth round pick of the Pirates in 1966, he hit .287 with 45 doubles, 14 triples, two home runs, 81 RBI and 51 stolen bases in 452 games as a member of the Pirates from 1970-74. He also played for the New York Mets, Texas, and Chicago Cubs. Clines went on to coach in the major leagues with the Cubs, Astros, Mariners, Brewers, and Giants. Gene Clines was 75 years old.
