Lanny Frattare was enshrined onto the Pittsburgh Pirates Media Wall of Fame Wednesday afternoon, the 11th member of the Pittsburgh media to be so honored. Frattare broadcast Pirates Baseball from 1976 through 2008, calling more games as the team’s play-by-play voice than any other announcer in the 100+ year history of the franchise. During the luncheon, hosted by Pirates owner Bob Nutting, team president Travis Williams and emceed by current broadcaster Greg Brown, Frattare paid tribute to Bob Prince, thanked his family, former manager Jim Leyland and his broadcast partners, many of whom attended the celebration. Since leaving the Pirates, Frattare has been an associate professor at Waynesburg University and has announced the PONY League World Series games for the past 10 years on WJPA.
