High School Football Week 4

September 22, 2023 12:01 am

We reach the halfway point of the 2023 high school football season Friday night. Five games in, five left to play.  First place in the 5A Allegheny Six is on the line as Peters Township hosts next door neighbor Upper St. Clair on WJPA-FM. Wash High returns to WJPA-AM for the first time since opening night, hosting 2A Century Conference opponent Brentwood.  Airtime is 6:30 pm for both with kickoff set for 7 pm.

One game that will not be played is the 1A Black Hills contest at Avella against #1 Bishop Canevin.  Thursday afternoon, Avella posted the following on its official Facebook page: “Unfortunately, due to multiple player injuries on the Avella Varsity Football team, we have been forced to cancel this Friday’s game vs. Bishop Canevin. We appreciate your support as we prioritize player health and recovery.” The League has not determined whether the game will be canceled, re-scheduled or forfeited.
