Football semifinals are on Friday’s schedule for the two largest classifications, including 6A #3 Canon-McMillan and 5A #1 Peters Township. Class 1A-4A are at the quarterfinal round. The scheduling difference is the result of 5A & 6A WPIAL champions moving into the state playoff brackets one week earlier than the smaller classifications. Big school championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Norwin High School with the small school title games on Friday, Nov. 24 at Acrisure Stadium. Click for WPIAL Football brackets

On-Air/Online plans: Wash High takes on McGuffey for the second time in three weeks, this time with a trip to the WPIAL semifinals on the line. We’ll have the Little Prexies & Highlanders on WJPA-FM (95.3). Trinity visits McKeesport, trying to avenge an earlier loss to the Tigers during Big Seven play. Catch the Hillers action on WJPA-AM (1450). Airtime for both is 6:30 pm. Saturday afternoon, Bentworth and Burrell boys soccer meet for the second time in 12 days, the Bearcats looking to extend their best-ever soccer season. We’ll have the match on WJPA-FM (95.3) and online starting at 1:50 pm.
