Trinity took care of its own business and got the help needed to clinch a playoff spot with two week to play. The Hillers’ win at Laurel Highlands was played with a running clock in the second half. Ringgold lost big to Thomas Jefferson, the Rams’ 23rd straight loss. McGuffey already held a playoff berth, then held off Keystone Oaks to stay unbeaten in the 2A Century Conference, setting up a showdown with Wash High in two weeks. The #1 Little Prexies rolled past Charleroi, the Cougars’ 7th straight loss. #1 Ft. Cherry remained perfect, leading the Black Hills Conference. Burgettstown stayed above the line for a playoff spot with two weeks left. Avella’s loss knocks the Eagles out of the race. California, West Greene and Jeff-Morgan clinched Tri-County South playoff spots. In non-conference play, 5A #1 Peters Township blanked 6A Mt. Lebanon. Canon-McMillan couldn’t protect its 14-point lead, falling at Upper St. Clair and Waynesburg rolled to its 6th win of the year.
