PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pirates rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin says he’s ready to return from the injured list. He expects to be activated before Pittsburgh begins a series against the Los Angeles Angels. The 20-year-old has been sidelined since early July with a knuckle issue. The Pirates have struggled in his absence, falling behind in the National League playoff race. The team believes it’s important for Griffin to gain more experience this season. He’s hitting .276 with five homers and 20 stolen bases in 59 games. Griffin says he’s pain-free and eager to compete again.
