The Penguins have announced that defenseman Kris Letang has undergone successful heart surgery. A statement released by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas says Letang had “successful close of a patent foramen ovale (PFO; small hole in the heart). The procedure was performed at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The expected recovery time is four to six weeks.
