TORONTO (AP) — Two significant trades happened during the NHL’s All-Star break. Many more are expected in the four-plus weeks before the March 8 trade deadline. That flurry of moves is just one thing to watch down the stretch of the NHL season. MetLife Stadium will host two outdoor games in as many days, Connor McDavid is shooting for another MVP honor and his Oilers are racing their way up the Western Conference standings. All that still needs to unfold before the playoffs and the chase for the Stanley Cup begin on April 22.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Wyndham Clark is the winner of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The PGA Tour has canceled the final round because of wicked weather conditions that would linger into the next day and cause safety concerns. Clark’s final stroke was to tap in for birdie Saturday. That gave him a course record 12-under 60 and a one-shot lead over Ludvig Aberg. He never had to hit another shot. Overnight rain saturated Pebble Beach, and raging wind that followed led the PGA Tour to postpone the final round with hopes of playing on Monday. Clark picked up the $3.6 million payoff.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Wyndham Clark came inches from a sub-60 round at Pebble Beach. He settled for a 60 to set the course record and take a one-shot lead in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. And it might be enough for the win at the $20 million signature event. That depends on Mother Nature. Heavy rain and gusts up to 60 mph were expected overnight and into Sunday. The PGA Tour might have to decide if they can even finish on Monday. If not, it would revert to a 54-hole tournament and Clark would be the winner. He leads over Ludvig Aberg.

TORONTO (AP) — NHL players are returning to the Olympics for the first time in more than a decade. The plan calls for the NHL to allow its players to participate in the 2026 Games in Milan and also in 2030. Commissioner Gary Bettman and players’ union executive director Marty Walsh announced the deal. NHL players have not been at an Olympics since 2014 in Sochi. The last two have been held in Asia and the pandemic was a factor in scuttling 2022 plans for Beijing. The international calendar also includes a four-nation tournament involving the U.S., Canada, Sweden and Finland next year.

The Washington Commanders have an agreement with Dan Quinn to hire him as coach, two people with knowledge of the move tell The Associated Press. Quinn has been the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. He coached the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance in his five-plus years in Atlanta. Quinn became the choice for Washington after Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson informed teams he was staying with Detroit. Controlling owner Josh Harris, new general manager Adam Peters and Quinn give the organization a much-desired new approach after four years of Ron Rivera in charge turned out to be a disappointment.
