Trinity’s win over Thomas Jefferson has historical significance but more immediate impact. With the win, the Hillers first over the Jaguars since 1987, Trinity is in position to clinch a playoff berth with two games left to play. A Trinity win at Laurel Highlands plus Thomas Jefferson and Latrobe wins tonight will wrap up a playoff spot for the first time since 2017. Hear Trinity at Laurel Highlands on WJPA-AM (1450).
#1 Ft. Cherry hosts #5 Cornell with at least a share of the Black Hills Conference lead on the line. Cornell lost at home last week to #2 Bishop Canevin, a team the Rangers beat the previous week. A Cornell win creates a three-way tie atop the standings while a Ft. Cherry victory sets the Rangers up to be the overall top seed in the 1A playoff bracket. We’ll have the Ft. Cherry / Cornell game on WJPA-FM (95.3).

Smith finished 21 of 27 for 253 yards and four touchdowns. He threw a Hail Mary from midfield, the ball was tipped at the goal line and Johnson caught it to end the game. “We practiced that, and we always have a guy who is ready for the tip,” Smith said. “We just executed that.” Smith, who completed his final 16 passes, also ran for a touchdown as Houston (3-3, 1-2 Big 12) earned its first Big 12 win.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Connor Bedard did not disappoint in his NHL debut. The Chicago Blackhawks rookie picked up an assist and dazzled occasionally with his skating as Chicago rallied past Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2. The 18-year-old Bedard, the top pick in the NHL draft, played over 21 minutes. He often shared the ice with Crosby, one of his idols. Bedard registered five of the 35 shots Chicago fired at Tristan Jarry as the Blackhawks began a new era with an impressive victory over the veteran-laden Penguins. Crosby scored his 551st career goal for Pittsburgh but the Penguins let a 2-0 lead slip away.
