Jackson Blake, Shayne Gostisbehere and Jack Roslovic also scored for the Hurricanes, and Frederik Andersen had 26 saves. Drew O’Connor had Pittsburgh’s lone goal. Joel Blomqvist, playing his fourth NHL game and making his third start, allowed more than three goals for the first time.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase gave up two runs in the ninth inning as the New York Yankees moved closer to another World Series, beating the Guardians 8-6 to take a 3-1 lead in the American League Championship Series. New York got three singles in the ninth off Clase, who gave up back-to-back homers in the eighth inning of Game 3 but got bailed out when the Guardians got a pair of two-run homers in their final two at-bats. Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run homer and Juan Soto hit a two-run shot for the Yankees, who can advance to their 41st World Series with a win in Game 5 on Saturday.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Javonte Williams rushed for two touchdowns and the Denver Broncos triumphed in coach Sean Payton’s return to New Orleans, beating the banged-up and reeling Saints 33-10. Bo Nix passed for 164 yards and ran for 75 yards for Denver. The Broncos outgained New Orleans 389 yards to 271 while sending the Saints to their fifth straight defeat. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler made his second straight start for New Orleans and his lack of experience was exacerbated by injuries all across the the offense. The Saints fell to 2-5, while the Broncos improved to 4-3.

NEW YORK (AP) — Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff homer and scored four times, Mookie Betts also went deep and drove in four runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the New York Mets 10-2 for a 3-1 lead in their lopsided National League Championship Series. Betts had a two-run homer and a two-run double among his four hits. Max Muncy extended his streak of reaching base safely to 12 plate appearances, a postseason record, and the Dodgers moved within one win of their 25th pennant — most in NL history. Game 5 is Friday at Citi Field, with Jack Flaherty expected to pitch for Los Angeles with an opportunity to put his hometown team in the World Series.

With the Guardians trailing 5-3 and one out from falling into a 3-0 series deficit, Lane Thomas doubled against Luke Weaver in the ninth and Noel tied the score.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby have shared many milestones and memories throughout the last two decades as icons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. They both enjoyed milestones on Wednesday night against the Buffalo Sabres when Malkin became the 48th player in NHL history to score 500 career goals, while Crosby became the 10th player in NHL history with 1,600 regular-season points in a career. Crosby’s overtime goal capped a 6-5 victory against Buffalo. Malkin, who has the third-most goals in Penguins’ history with 500 in 1,150 games, is the 20th player in NHL history to score 500 goals with one team.

Kiké Hernández hit a two-run shot to make it 4-0 in the sixth inning and waved to the Citi Field crowd he quieted. Los Angeles rebounded from a loss at home and grabbed a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series by pitching its fourth shutout in the past five playoff games. Ohtani connected in the eighth, a 410-foot drive that soared into the second deck in right field. Max Muncy went deep in the ninth for his 13th career postseason homer.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Davante Adams expects to make his debut for the New York Jets on Sunday night at Pittsburgh. The star wide receiver was acquired from Las Vegas on Tuesday. Adams was limited at the Jets’ walkthrough practice session, but said he’ll be able to play against the Steelers. Adams missed the Raiders’ past three games with a hamstring injury that coincided with his request to be traded. He’s reunited with Aaron Rodgers. Adams caught 615 passes from Rodgers for 7,517 yards and 68 touchdowns during eight seasons together in Green Bay.

NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge hit a two-run drive into Monument Park for his first home run of this postseason, and the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 to take a 2-0 AL Championship Series lead. Judge, who entered with just one RBI in the playoffs, hit a sacrifice fly in a two-run second and hit his 14th career postseason home run, a seventh-inning drive off Hunter Gaddis. After a day off, Game 3 is Thursday in Cleveland. The Yankees lead the ALCS 2-0 for the first time since 2009 against the Los Angeles Angels.

During his weekly news conference on Tuesday, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said he is thinking about a change at quarterback this weekend as the team gets ready to play the New York Jets Sunday night. Russell Wilson has been out after suffering a calf injury and Tomlin says he is now in consideration to take over as the starter. “Justin has been really good, and we’ve been really good at times, but not to be confused with great,” Tomlin said.
