November 15, 2022 3:49 am

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Eagles’ bid for an undefeated season is over. The Washington Commanders turned methodical drives into scores and took advantage of turnover-prone Philadelphia to stun the Eagles 32-21 on Monday night and send them to their first loss in nine games this season. Behind Jalen Hurts, the Eagles were 8-0 for the first time in franchise history and the last team in the NFL that could make a run at Miami’s 17-0 mark in 1972 and the lone perfect season. The 2007 New England Patriots came close, going 18-0 before a Super Bowl loss.  The Commanders also spoiled Pittsburgh’s 11-0 start in 2020. Hurts threw for just 174 yards.

Watt’s Return Fuels Steelers In Win Over New Orleans

November 14, 2022 3:50 am

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Kenny Pickett and George Pickens ran for 1-yard touchdowns and the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled away from the listless New Orleans Saints 20-10. Fueled by the return of star outside linebacker T.J. Watt, the Steelers held the Saints to 186 yards to win for just the second time in eight games. Pittsburgh sacked Andy Dalton twice and forced a pair of fourth-quarter interceptions to thwart any hope of a late rally by the Saints. Watt hadn’t played since tearing his left pectoral late in a Week 1 win over Cincinnati.

NFL: Bills’ Catch Against Vikings Should Have Been Overturned

November 14, 2022 3:52 am

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – The Vikings beat the Bills in overtime. If not for an officiating mistake, they might have won in regulation. The NFL’s senior vice president of officiating acknowledged there was a breakdown in the instant replay process after a pivotal play late in Minnesota’s 33-30 win over Buffalo on Sunday. Walt Anderson told a pool reporter that Gabe Davis’ 20-yard reception along the sideline with 24 seconds left in regulation should have been reviewed before the Bills ran another play. Anderson says Davis didn’t secure the ball when he hit the ground and the pass should have been ruled incomplete.

McCaffrey’s TD , Defense Lead 49ers Past Chargers

November 14, 2022 3:51 am

(AP) – Christian McCaffrey ran for the go-ahead touchdown with 7:54 to play, and the San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Chargers 22-16 in their first game back from a bye week. The Niners returned from the midseason break as healthy as they’ve been all season on offense and with hopes of making a second-half run. Their performance against the short-handed Chargers was a slog at times but proved to be just enough to come out on top. San Francisco fell behind by 10 points in the second quarter before rallying. McCaffrey has now accounted for four touchdowns in three games since arriving from Carolina in a midseason trade.
