CINCINNATI (AP) — When Joe Burrow couldn’t get the ball in the end zone in the second half Sunday, the Cincinnati defense made sure the Seattle Seahawks didn’t either. The Bengals defense intercepted Geno Smith twice. And they also twice stopped the Seahawks on fourth down from inside the Cincinnati 10 in the last 2:08 of the game to preserve a 17-13 win. The Bengals won two in a row for the first time this season and improved to 3-3 going into their bye week.

LONDON (AP) — Lamar Jackson scrambled, evaded tackles and made big throws when he needed to in his international debut. The dynamic Ravens quarterback got a glowing review from his coach after a 24-16 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “Lamar Jackson played one of the most courageous games I’ve ever seen,” coach John Harbaugh said. “Lamar Jackson is not afraid.” Jackson threw a touchdown pass and Justin Tucker kicked six field goals and the Ravens (4-2) struggled mightily in the red zone. Jackson was 21 of 30 for 223 yards and he led the team with 62 yards on the ground. He shared the spotlight with Tucker, who went 6-for-6 in a country familiar with kicking.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Breece Hall ran for an 8-yard touchdown with 1:46 remaining, one play after Tony Adams intercepted Jalen Hurts, and the New York Jets held on to shock the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles 20-14 for their first win against them. The Jets appeared on their way to falling to 0-13 in their history against the Eagles, but Hurts’ third interception of the game — and the fourth turnover by Philadelphia — was returned by Adams 45 yards to put New York into immediate scoring position. Hall’s run shook MetLife Stadium as the Jets fans went wild and Zach Wilson connected with Randall Cobb on a 2-point conversion. The defense shut down the Eagles one more time to seal the win.

Trinity’s win over Thomas Jefferson has historical significance but more immediate impact. With the win, the Hillers first over the Jaguars since 1987, Trinity is in position to clinch a playoff berth with two games left to play. A Trinity win at Laurel Highlands plus Thomas Jefferson and Latrobe wins tonight will wrap up a playoff spot for the first time since 2017. Hear Trinity at Laurel Highlands on WJPA-AM (1450).
#1 Ft. Cherry hosts #5 Cornell with at least a share of the Black Hills Conference lead on the line. Cornell lost at home last week to #2 Bishop Canevin, a team the Rangers beat the previous week. A Cornell win creates a three-way tie atop the standings while a Ft. Cherry victory sets the Rangers up to be the overall top seed in the 1A playoff bracket. We’ll have the Ft. Cherry / Cornell game on WJPA-FM (95.3).

HOUSTON (AP) — Donovan Smith threw a 49-yard touchdown pass that was caught by Stephon Johnson as time expired to give Houston a thrilling 41-39 win over West Virginia on Thursday night. Smith finished 21 of 27 for 253 yards and four touchdowns. He threw a Hail Mary from midfield, the ball was tipped at the goal line and Johnson caught it to end the game. “We practiced that, and we always have a guy who is ready for the tip,” Smith said. “We just executed that.” Smith, who completed his final 16 passes, also ran for a touchdown as Houston (3-3, 1-2 Big 12) earned its first Big 12 win.
