OKC Completes Sweep Of LeBron & The Lakers

May 12, 2026 4:33 am

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James says he has no idea whether his 24-point performance in the Los Angeles Lakers’ second-round playoff loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder was the final game of his NBA career. The top scorer in league history stuck to the plan he has taken into the past several summers when he declined to announce his future immediately after the Lakers’ final postseason defeat. He hasn’t ruled out retirement or a return to the Lakers, and he didn’t speculate about moving to another team as he contemplates the possibility of an unprecedented 24th NBA season.

Pirates Wrap Up Road Trip With Extra Innings Loss

May 11, 2026 4:32 am

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jesús Rodríguez hit an RBI single in the 12th inning and the San Francisco Giants rallied from a pair of two-run deficits to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-6. The Giants loaded the bases against Justin Lawrence when Matt Chapman hit a double that only advanced automatic runner Heliot Ramos to third, and Drew Gilbert was intentionally walked. Rodríguez followed with a single to right to give the struggling Giants just their third win in the last 12 games. Oneil Cruz and Konnor Griffin homered for the Pirates.

Wash Jeff Wins 17th PAC Baseball Title, NCAA Bid

May 10, 2026 7:00 am

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Luke Alvarez homered twice to help power the Washington & Jefferson College baseball team (32-11) to an 11-2 victory over Grove City (22-18) in the 2026 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Round Saturday afternoon at Ross Memorial Park. The conference title is the 17th in program history for the Presidents, who have now won six of the past seven PAC crowns. The decisive postseason run this spring helps the Presidents avenge a season-ending loss to Grove City in last year’s tournament. Alvarez finished with a pair of home runs and five RBIs to lead the offense. Alvarez’s 15th and 16th home runs extended his single-season program record leader. His work offensively, behind the dish and on the mound helped Alvarez earn the honor as Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament. Jack Anderson had a team-best three hits while Seth Rosenfeld logged another multi-hit effort in the 12-hit attack for the Presidents. W&J now awaits the NCAA Division III bracket announcement Monday at 12 noon.

Pirates Get A Season-High Twenty Hits And Beat The Giants

May 10, 2026 7:57 am

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Nick Gonzales and Joey Bart each had four hits, Brandon Lowe drove in four runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates had a season-high 20 hits in a 13-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night.  Every Pittsburgh starter recorded a hit. Oneil Cruz finished with three hits, while Lowe and Ryan O’Hearn each had two.  Braxton Ashcraft (2-2) went seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out six. Landon Roupp (5-3) struck out eight and gave up one run in four-plus innings before the Pirates pounced on the Giants’ bullpen.  Ryan Borucki replaced Roupp after a leadoff single by Bart in the fifth and but got just two outs before manager Tony Vitello pulled him in favor of Ryan Walker, who got San Francisco out of the inning.  Bryce Eldridge, the Giants’ 21-year-old designated hitter, quickly answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, his first in the majors, after getting the call-up from Sacramento earlier this week.  However, Walker surrendered two runs on back-to-back hits from Konnor Griffin and Bart, putting the Pirates ahead 4-1 in the sixth.  And in the seventh, the Pirates piled it on, getting four runs off JT Brubaker and then two more off Gregory Santos to take a 10-1 lead, garnering loud boos from Giants fans.  Giants second baseman Christian Koss left in the ninth inning after getting hit by a pitch on the shoulder.

Steelers To Sell Acrisure Seats

May 9, 2026 12:14 pm

Here’s your chance to own a little bit of sports history. The Pittsburgh Steelers are selling seats from Acrisure Stadium. The team has partnered with MeiGray, and will authenticate stadium seats. The offering comes as crews remove 22,000 seats from the upper level before the 2026 season. The seats will be decommissioned and refurbished. The Steelers say this reduces waste and gives fans an opportunity to own a piece of sports history. Those interested can go the MeiGray website and purchase single seats, pairs, and seat backs and bottoms. Prices begin at $149 and go up to $599. Some of the higher-end seats will be signed by “Select Steelers Legends.”

Bullpen Implodes, Giants Top Pirates Friday

May 9, 2026 4:10 am

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Rafael Devers homered to back six strong innings from Robbie Ray, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Friday night. The only run allowed by Ray (3-4) came in the second when Marcell Ozuna led off with his 300th career homer to put Pittsburgh up 1-0. Devers homered for the fourth time this season, connecting against Carmen Mlodzinski (2-3) leading off the bottom half to tie it. It was just the 24th home run for San Francisco this year. The left-hander yielded four hits and four walks while striking out seven. Caleb Kilian gave up a run in the ninth but retired pinch-hitter Ryan O’Hearn on a groundout with runners on second and third to close it out. Devers singled in the fifth and scored on a two-out single by Heliot Ramos to give the Giants a 2-1 lead. Willy Adames led off the seventh with a single against Justin Lawrence and went to third on Ramos’ double. Drew Gilbert singled to make it 3-1 before Jesús Rodríguez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Evan Sisk gave up a two-run single to Luis Arraez that made it 5-1. Mlodzinski permitted two runs and seven hits in six innings. Lawrence was charged with three runs and failed to get an out. The Giants began the day with the fewest homers in the majors, the fewest runs (115), and the fewest stolen bases (10).
