ATLANTA (AP) — Scottie Scheffler has polished off the best year in golf in nearly two decades with the biggest prize. That made Scheffler the FedEx Cup champion with its $25 million bonus. Scheffler won seven times on the PGA Tour and an Olympic gold medal. The eight victories are the most since Tiger Woods won eight times in 2006. The FedEx Cup bonus pushed his season earnings to just over $62.2 million.

September 1, 2024 7:45 am

(WPXI) – Pat Narduzzi promised that Pitt was going to go fast.  Pitt raced out to a 7-0 lead, and then a 14-0 lead, and through some very sloppy play at times, the Panthers certainly played fast.  Pitt knocked off Kent State, 55-24, at Acrisure Stadium Saturday afternoon, starting the season off on a winning note. And while it wasn’t smooth sailing, the Panthers racked up 547 yards and 55 points.  Eli Holstein took a large step in the quarterback competition, completing 29-of-39 pass attempts for 330 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, and Nate Yarnell led a touchdown drive of his own. Desmond Reid was electric, racking up 231 all-purpose yards, and Kenny Johnson recorded the first 100-yard receiving performance of his Pitt career.

The season opener was delayed for more than two hours at halftime by lightning. Nick Singleton rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown for the Nittany Lions. Allar and Singleton were able to generate the explosive plays that were lacking from Penn State’s offense in big games late last season and led to a change in offensive coordinators. Allar’s touchdown tosses covered 50, 20 and 18 yards. West Virginia has lost four straight season openers for the first time in school history.
