Darius Slay Now Considering His Future

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Cornerback Darius Slay has put off reporting to the Buffalo Bills to instead take time to consider his future, the player’s agent confirmed in a text. Drew Rosenhaus said Slay will take the next few days to determine whether he wants to continue playing, a development that comes a day after Buffalo claimed the 13-year player off waivers. Slay was released by Pittsburgh this week after being inactive in two of the Steelers’ past three outings. Complicating matters further, Buffalo may have lost a player for nothing if Slay decides not to continue playing. In claiming Slay, the Bills released fourth-year defensive back Ja’Marcus Ingram, who on Thursday was claimed by the Houston Texans.

Fort Cherry Star Chooses WVU

Standout Fort Cherry senior Matt Sieg made it official Wednesday. The four-star safety flipped his college commitment from Penn State To West Virginia. The 6-foot, 180-pounder had close to two dozen offers but said he wanted a school close to home and a coach willing to let him play defense and offense. Sieg originally committed to Penn State in November of last year but changed plans when the Nittany Lions fired coach James Franklin in October.

Rodgers Still Confident In Steelers

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are struggling as December hits, but Aaron Rodgers isn’t panicking. The quarterback, known for his “R-E-L-A-X” message in Green Bay earlier in his career, doesn’t feel the need to repeat it. The 42-year-old Rodgers says while the Steelers have been inconsistent, he remains confident heading into a showdown with Baltimore for first place in the AFC North. Pittsburgh signed two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Adam Thielen to the practice squad this week to see if the 35-year-old can help boost a wide receiver group that has struggled to make a consistent impact.  Meanwhile, outside linebacker T.J Watt missed practice Wednesday with a reported toe injury.

After starting 5-2, the two-time defending NFC North champions have lost three of five to fall behind division-leading Chicago and second-place Green Bay. Dallas has a winning record for the first time this year.

Steelers Release Darius Slay, Claim Thielen Off Waivers

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen to their practice squad. The move came shortly after the Minnesota Vikings released the 35-year-old to allow him to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere. Thielen had eight catches for 69 yards in his return to Minnesota, where he starred from 2014-22. The Steelers, currently 6-6, have struggled in the passing game. Thielen joins Marquez Valdes-Scantling, another experienced wideout, on the practice squad. Pittsburgh also promoted Asante Samuel Jr. and released Darius Slay, who had been a healthy scratch recently.

Crosby needs just eight more points to surpass Lemieux’s 1,723 points. Crosby scored his 58th and 59th career goals against the Philadelphia Flyers, leading the Penguins to a 5-1 victory. The 38-year-old Crosby has dominated the Flyers, collecting 137 points in 92 games against them. Despite the Flyers’ attempts to promote the rivalry, Crosby’s success has overshadowed it. Crosby’s pursuit of Lemieux’s record adds excitement to the Penguins’ season, even as the team struggles.

Patriots Become First Team To 11 Wins

Then he explained why he felt compelled to leave Oxford, Mississippi, behind and take over an LSU football program that he’s always admired from afar. Kiffin says LSU is “different” and “the best job in football” because of its history, tradition, passion, great players from Louisiana,, and the environment in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. Kiffin was flown in on a private plane on Sunday night with LSU Athletic Director Verge Ausberry. Monday afternoon, he was speaking to a festive crowd of LSU dignitaries at Tiger Stadium, where massive video boards were lit up with his name and likeness.
