PIAA Football Brackets
The Jaguars’ football team owns three PIAA football championships, but the seniors on this year’s squad were in first grade the last time Thomas Jefferson walked off the field at HersheyPark Stadium with the golden football. Friday afternoon, TJ takes on Lampeter-Strasburg with a berth in this year’s championship game on the line. The Jags are 14-0, having knocked out three-time defending champion Cathedral Prep last weekend. And that win came just six days after claiming the school’s 9th WPIAL title. But this team is focused on winning PIAA gold and claiming a spot among those legendary teams of 2004, 2007, 2008.
Lampeter-Strasburg, coached by Charleroi native John Manion, comes in as District 3 champion. The Pioneers were the 8th seed in the district playoffs but have won at the home sites of three higher-seeded teams to get to the state semifinals. L-S has won four in a row after losing three of five games in mid-season.
