Rust’s tip-in of Ryan Shea’s long pass from the point broke a 1-1 tie 6:29 into the third. Ben Kindel added an insurance goal a minute later. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Lamar Jackson threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns, showing little rust in his return from a right hamstring strain, and the Baltimore Ravens routed the Miami Dolphins 28-6. Jackson completed 18 of 23 passes in his first start since Week 4 against Kansas City, and the Ravens won their second straight as they hope to make a run in the wide-open AFC North. Tight end Mark Andrews made two touchdown catches. Jackson’s other TD passes went to tight end Charlie Kolar and receiver Rashod Bateman. Derrick Henry rushed 119 yards on 19 carries. The Dolphins were undone by a slew of mistakes in the first half.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers shuffled their slumping lineup for Game 5 of the World Series. The changes did absolutely nothing to prevent another dismal offensive performance by their powerhouse lineup. The Dodgers managed just four hits against Toronto rookie Trey Yesavage and his bullpen during the Blue Jays’ 6-1 victory. Kiké Hernández’s third-inning homer was the Dodgers’ only extra-base hit, and they struck out a whopping 15 times. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts moved Mookie Betts down in the order for the first time in four years and benched Andy Pages.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have picked former bench coach Derek Shelton as their new manager, a person with knowledge of the decision confirmed Wednesday night. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the hire. Major League Baseball encourages clubs to avoid spotlighting big moves during the World Series. Shelton served as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates for five-plus years before he was fired just 40 games into this season. The 55-year-old was the bench coach for the Twins in 2018 and 2019 under two different managers, Paul Molitor and Rocco Baldelli.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer off Shohei Ohtani, Shane Bieber pitched four-hit ball into the sixth inning, and the Toronto Blue Jays shook off their epic 18-inning loss to even the World Series with a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4. Ohtani redefined the concept of short rest by taking the mound just more than 17 hours after he reached base nine times in Game 3, but he gave up four runs and six hits while pitching into the seventh. The Blue Jays reclaimed homefield advantage and guaranteed the World Series trophy will be won at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Freddie Freeman homered leading off the bottom of the 18th inning, Shohei Ohtani went deep twice in another record-setting performance and the Los Angeles Dodgers outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 in a World Series classic. The defending champion Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven matchup and still have a chance to win the title at home — something they haven’t done since 1963. Freeman connected off left-hander Brendon Little, sending a 406-foot drive to straightaway center field to finally end a game that lasted 6 hours, 39 minutes, and matched the longest by innings in postseason history.
