The PIAA Football Playoffs hit the semifinals this weekend including all six WPIAL champions looking for one more win to reach the state title games. 1A Fort Cherry looks to get back to the finals for a second straight year, hoping to improve on last year’s runner-up finish. The Rangers travel to Clarion University Friday night to face unbeaten Port Allegany. In 4A, Thomas Jefferson is traveling a familiar road, having reached the state semifinals six previous times on the way to winning five PIAA championships. The Jaguars take on District 3 champion Lampeter-Strasburg Friday afternoon at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona.
We’ll have both games on the WJPA Sports Network. The Thomas Jefferson/Lampeter-Strasburg game will be on WJPA-AM with pre-game coverage starting at 12:45 pm. Fort Cherry & Port Allegany will be on WJPA-FM pregame is scheduled for 6:30 pm. We’re also producing the multi-camera video of both games for NFHS Network (subscription required).
