Pirates Hire Hitting Coach

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced a change to their coaching staff. Christian Marrero was added to the staff as the Assistant Major League Hitting Coach. Marrero comes to the Pirates from the Phillies organization where he spent the last three years as a hitting coach at Lakewood, and Williamsport. The former outfielder played parts of 12 seasons in the minor leagues with the White Sox, Pirates, Braves and Phillies organization. Marrero will work with hitting coach Rick Eckstein. Marrero will replace Mike Rabello. He is transitioning to a new position on the big league staff as Major League Field Coordinator.
