Burgettstown scored four runs in the third, two more in the fourth, all after two out and held off Redbank Valley to reach the PIAA semifinals for the first time ever. Andrew Bredel delivered a pair of two-run singles for the Blue Devils. Winning pitcher Nathan Klodowski went the distance, striking out a dozen batters including three straight in the seventh with the tying runs in scoring position. Burgettstown will take on Neshannock, an 11-inning winner over Riverside, in Monday’s semifinals. We’ll have the game for you on WJPA-AM (1450).
West Greene softball hit the end of the road with a lopsided loss to DuBois Central Catholic. Bethel Park baseball blanked West Allegheny, ending the Indians’ season.. Meanwhile, Upper St. Clair’s baseball season ended with a loss to District 3 champion Warwick.
