The PIAA Basketball playoffs end Saturday for Fort Cherry, falling to District 6 champion Portage. The Mustangs hit eight three-pointers in the first half, raced to a 24-point lead at intermission and the Rangers couldn’t recover. The Chartiers Valley girls sprinted away from D-6 champion Hollidaysburg over the final 12 minutes to reach the state quarterfinals for the fourth straight year. The Colts and Tigers were tied at 40 with four minutes to play in the third. Chartiers Valley rolled up 19 of the next 21 points and then cruised to the win. Click for PIAA brackets
All Saturday games at eastern PA sites were postponed, most to Sunday but some to Monday night due to the snow storm.
