State Wrestling Championships, Day Two

It’s Day Two of the State Wrestling Championships in Hershey where some gold medal hopes will be extended, some will be dashed. When the dust settles on the day, the pairings for the AA medal bouts will be set while AAA will be set for semifinals.  We’ve got live, start-to-finish coverage on WJPA-AM (1450) or Listen Here! Following is a rundown of the Washington & Greene County wrestlers still active.

AA Quarterfinals Chris Vargo (Bentworth) and Parker Sentipal (Burgettstown) advanced to the semifinals. Tyler Berish (Beth-Center) lost his quarterfinal match but won his first consolation bout and will medal.  Vitali Daniels (Bentworth) and Joey Sentipal (Burgettstown) lost quarterfinals and their first consolation bouts and were elminated.
AA Consolations Gaven Suica (Burgettstown) and Kyle McCollum (Beth-Center) won two consolation bouts and will medal. Wash High’s Cameron Carter-Green won a consolation bout, then lost in overtime in the 3rd round and was eliminated.

AAA Quarterfinals Jacob Houpt (Canon-McMillan) joins Waynesburg teammates Mac Church and Rocco Welsh in the AAA semifinals.  The Big Macs’ Matthew Furman, Peters Township’s Darius McMillon and the Raiders’ Colton Stoneking lost quarterfinal matches and will wrestle in the 3rd round consolations. Cole Weightman (Belle Vernon), Mac Stout (Mt. Lebanon), Dylan Evans (Chartiers Valley), Ty Watters (West Allegheny) and Thomas Jefferson teammates Maddox Shaw and Brian Finnerty also advanced to Saturday’s semifinals.

AAA Consolations Canon-McMillan: Matthew Furman. Peters Township: Darius McMillon. Trinity: Blake Reihner. Waynesburg: Zander Phatorus, Colton Stoneking, Noah Tustin.
