The PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships finished on Saturday.
AA 5th place bouts Parker Sentipal (Burgettstown), Chris Vargo (Bentworth) both won to finish fifth.
AA 7th place bouts Gaven Suica (Burgettstown), Kyle McCollum (Beth-Center), Tyler Berish (Beth-Center) each lost and finished eighth.
AAA Championship bouts Waynesburg teammates Mac Church and Rocco Welsh won championships Saturday night, helping the Raiders to a third-place finish in the team points race. Ty Watters (West Allegheny), Dylan Evans (Chartiers Valley) and Brian Finnerty (Thomas Jefferson) also won title bouts. Finnerty’s gave TJ its first-ever state title. Belle Vernon’s Cole Weightman, seeking the Leopards’ first, lost to Finnerty in the final.
AAA 3rd place bouts Maddox Shaw (Thomas Jefferson) and Mac Stout (Mt. Lebanon) won, finishing third. Matthew Furman (Canon-McMillan) and Shawn Taylor (West Allegheny) lost their bouts and finished fourth.
AAA 5th place bouts Colton Stoneking (Waynesburg) won to take fifth. Jacob Houpt (Canon-McMillan), Zander Phatorus (Waynesburg) and Logan Hoffman (Belle Vernon) lost and finish sixth.
AAA 7th place bouts Noah Tustin (Waynesburg) won and claimed seventh place.
