Steelers Lose Tune-up Game To Jets

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Geno Smith threw for a touchdown during a brief preseason appearance and the New York Jets defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-0. Smith, who missed the Jets’ exhibition opener with an ankle issue, completed all seven passes on a 69-yard drive. The 13-year veteran ended the drive by hitting Jelani Woods for a 13-yard score. The Jets’ defense, a weak spot last season, intercepted Pittsburgh twice. New York also had four sacks, including one by rookie edge rusher David Bailey, the second overall pick in this year’s draft. Steelers quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar both struggled a week after impressive preseason debuts.
