Wash-Jeff Blanks Waynesburg

Jake Pugh ran for one touchdown and tossed a trio of scoring passes, all in the first half, as Washington & Jefferson shutout Waynesburg, 56-0. Troy Volpatti, Ray Holmes and Drew Schiano added rushing touchdown and Schiano added a 62-yard TD pass to set the final. John Peduzzi, Zach Cernuto, Jacob Macosko and Karson Kline caught the scoring passes.  Volpatti and Holmes each rushed for over 100 yards for W&J (8-2, 6-2) as the Presidents ran for 333 yards while adding another 246 passing.  Pugh completed 15-of-18 passes for 183 yards. Schiano’s only throw of the game was to Kline, a freshman who tallied his first collegiate score. Peduzzi caught five passes for 75 yards. Waynesburg had four runners each with 50+ yards: Hunter Cameron (71), Justin Flack (57), Dagyn Williams (55) and Hunter Cameron (51). Tyler Raines, the Yellowjackets’ starting quarterback missed the game with a concussion. Dakota Romantino, the team’s leading receiver, also was out, suffering from an ankle injury.  Waynesburg (4-6, 3-5) got just 30 passing yards from backup Thomas Burke on a 6-of-18 afternoon. W&J awaits a likely ECAC Bowl invitation.
