Jacob LaDuca stroked a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, leading top-seeded Washington & Jefferson to a 4-2 win over Grove City in the championship game of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference baseball tournament. LaDuca’s blast broke a 2-all tie and delivered W&J’s 16th PAC championship, the 12th under head coach Jeff Mountain. Grove City scored single runs in the third and fifth to take a 2-0 lead. W&J tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, with an RBI single by Ben Schuler and a LaDuca run-scoring ground out. Nate Nolan tossed four shutout innings to get the win, holding Grove City to two hits and two walks in relief of freshman starter Bobby Budacki. W&J has now won five straight conference titles and 16th consecutive PAC tournament games. W&J also clinches the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. The 60-team field will be announced Monday at noon online. (photo courtesy of PAC)
