Washington & Jefferson College and PennWest-California each scored football wins against Top 10 teams Saturday, keeping NCAA playoff possibilities alive and well.

Jacob Macosko caught a pair of touchdown passes in the last two minutes of the first half, giving W&J a lead it would never surrender, on the way to a 27-19 win over Grove City. John Peduzzi had 10 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. W&J’s defense held Grove City to just 143 rushing yards, more than 70 yards below its season average. With the win, W&J’s first over a Top 10 team since 2008, the Red & Black stay within one game of the lead in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, currently held by Case-Western Reserve. The Presidents travel to Cleveland in two weeks to take on the Spartans. Grove City’s loss snaps a 16-game regular season win streak. The Wolverines last regular season loss was at W&J two years ago.

California claimed sole possession of first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West standings by capturing a 28-7 victory over No. 6 Slippery Rock on Homecoming at Adamson Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Quarterback Davis Black hit 16-0f-26 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown and ran for another score in the Vulcans’ win, snapping a six-game losing streak against The Rock. Eric WIllis III had five catches for 106 yards, including a 65-yard TD reception. The CalU defense held Slippery Rock to just 10 rushing yards and an 0-for-8 mark on third downs. The win is the first for CalU against a nationally-ranked opponent since late in the 2021 season, and the fifth against a Top 10 team since 2000.
