W&J Defense Holds for Road Win

#24 Washington & Jefferson offense and special teams built a 28-14 lead in the first half at Grove City.  After the break, the defense held Grove City at bay enough to allow the Presidents to get the 28-24 win, maintaining a share of the conference lead with two games left to play.  Sophomore quarterback Colton Jones, making his first collegiate start, led the Presidents on three seven-play scoring drives in the game’s first 16 minutes, Midway through the second quarter, Justin Huss returned a kickoff 90 yards to build a two touchdown lead. After spending 20 of the first 30 minutes on the field, a tired defense made enough plays to get the win.  Drew Ehrlich finally sealed the win with his second interception of the half. The Wolverines had a pair of 15-play possessions that yield no points, one on a missed field goal and the other on downs.  Jones finished the day 24-of-36 for 225 yards, one interception and one touchdown. Huss had a rushing score in addition to the KO return TD. Joey Koroly carried 16 times for 80 yards and one touchdown. Grove City QB Josh Ehst completed 19 of his 37 passes for 202 yards but was intercepted four times.  Cody Gustafson had 13 catches for 131 yards. Zach Trusky carried 19 timesfor133 yards and a touchdown for the Wolverines. W&J is 6-1 in the league, 7-1 overall, tied with Westminster and Carnegie-Mellon. W&J plays at CMU next week.
