WPIAL Basketball Finals This Weekend

The WPIAL Basketball Championships are wrapping up at the Petersen Events Center in Oakland. Fort Cherry fell in the 2A boys final to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 60-36. The Rangers were led by Dylan Rogers’ 13 points. Jake DiMichele scored 29 to lead OLSH to a fourth straight championship. Four players scored in double figures, led by Maddie Webber’s 17, as South Fayette upset three-time defending champion Chartiers Valley in the 5A girls final. That win puts Trinity in the state playoffs as the League’s #7 team. Click for WPIAL brackets.

Burgettstown girls reached the state tourney with Neshannock’s win over the OLSH girls. The Blue Devils travel to Homer Center Tuesday. Waynesburg girls will also play Tuesday, traveling to District 5 champion Chestnut Ridge. West Greene’s girls play at District 9 winner Portage on Wednesday.

Fort Cherry and Wash High boys, Trinity girls open PIAA play Wednesday. The Rangers hosting District 10 third-place West Middlesex. Wash High travels to District 5 champion Chestnut Ridge.  Trinity travels  to face District 3 champion Gettysburg.
