The WPIAL football playoffs opened Friday night for seven teams from our two-county area. Trinity stayed with Aliquippa but lost to the three-time defending WPIAL champions. Wash High was within a touchdown at the half before Steel Valley scored three times in the third quarter to take control, beating the Little Prexies for the second time this year. Fort Cherry had no trouble with #16 Brentwood. #10 California won on the road in an upset. Bentworth, Jeff-Morgan and Waynesburg fell behind early and couldn’t rally.
