The four-week individual wrestling championship series began Friday for WPIAL AA wrestlers. The League scrapped 2A Section tournaments, returning to a full, all-eligible WPIAL AA championship gathering at Canon-McMillan. Peters Township girls got 18 points from Journey Thompson on the way to a 57-42 win over Butler, moving the Indians to Wednesday’s quarterfinals at #1 Mt. Lebanon. Charleroi’s girls were eliminated with a 61-38 loss at Laurel.
