Nolf Wins Fourth Southwest AA Regional Title
One week after becoming a four-time WPIAL champion, Kittanning's Jason Nolf won his fourth straight PIAA Southwest AA championship, just the fifth player in the 28-year history of the regional tourney, joining Cary Kolat (Jeff-Morgan), Joe Makara (Burrell), Jake Strayer (Forest Hills) and Geoff Alexander (Shady Side Academy).
Chishko a Four-Time WPIAL Champion
Canon-McMillan's Solomon Chishko won his fourth individual WPIAL championship just a week after Jason Nolf, Kittanning won his fourth title. They are the 23rd & 24th WPIAL wrestlers ever to accomplish the feat. Chishko is the sixth Canonsburg wrestler in the club, twice as many as any other school. Shady Side Academy wrestlers entered the list three years in a row. Waynesburg, Jefferson-Morgan, Burrell and Derry have two four-time champs.
Nolf Wins Fourth WPIAL Title
Jason Nolf has joined one of wrestling's most-exclusive clubs Saturday night, that of four-time individual WPIAL wrestling champions. Nolf pinned Tony Welsh (Beth-Center) in the first period to claim his fourth championship. The Kittanning senior also has two PIAA gold medals (2011, 2013) and a bronze (2012).
After just five wrestlers won four straight WPIAL individual titles from 1936-1988, at least one new member was added to the club each year from 2007-2012, Derry's Jimmy Gulibon went on to also win his fourth PIAA championship in 2012, just the tenth all-time member of that fraternity.
