ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes and scored on a franchise playoff-record 52-yard touchdown run, and the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 in an AFC wild-card playoff game that was postponed a day because of a lake-effect blizzard. Allen threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Shakir with 6:27 remaining that restored a two-touchdown lead for Buffalo. The second-seeded Bills advance to host Patrick Mahomes and the No. 3 seed Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round on Sunday night. The Steelers’ season ended after they surged into the playoffs with wins in their final three games behind longtime backup quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Tampa Bay Routs Eagles In NFC Wild Card

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 32-9 wild-card playoff victory over Jalen Hurts and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Bucs won for the sixth time in seven games to advance to a NFC divisional round matchup on the road next Sunday against the Detroit Lions. David Moore scored on a 44-yard reception in the first quarter. Rookie Trey Palmer broke the game open with a 56-yard catch-and-run for a TD that put the Bucs up 25-9 late in the third quarter. Mayfield also threw a 23-yard TD pass to Chris Godwin.

Penguins Snap Seattle’s 9-Game Win Streak

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sidney Crosby scored twice, Tristan Jarry stopped 22 shots and the Pittsburgh Penguins ended the Seattle Kraken’s franchise-record nine-game winning streak with a 3-0 victory. Seattle, playing the fourth game of an East Coast road trip, mustered little against Pittsburgh as Jarry collected his fifth shutout of the season. Drew O’Connor also scored for the Penguins on Monday. The Kraken came in riding a month of occasionally spectacular play that’s vaulted them into the thick of the playoff chase in the loaded Western Conference as the season reaches its midpoint.

The girls took the hardwood spotlight Monday as teams finish their first trips through section play this week. McGuffey stayed within reach of the 3A Section 4 leader Waynesburg while keeping Charleroi from its first section win. Waynesburg kept Brownsville winless. Burgettstown leads 2A Section 2 despite an overall sub-.500 record.  2A Section 4 is going to be a battle to the finish with Chartiers-Houston, the unbeaten leader of the pack, won to stay a game up on Wash High. California pulled into a tie for third with a road win.

Jared Goff Leads Lions To First Playoff Win In 32 Years

DETROIT (AP) — Jared Goff threw for a touchdown and completed a game-sealing first down against the team that cast him away, and the Detroit Lions won a playoff game for the first time in 32 years, beating Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams 24-23. The Lions ended a nine-game postseason losing streak — the longest in NFL history — that dated to a victory over Dallas on Jan. 5, 1992. Detroit will have two home playoff games for the first time in franchise history, hosting either Tampa Bay or Philadelphia in the divisional round next Sunday. Stafford threw for 367 yards for the Rams.

Packers Stun Cowboys In Blowout

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Jordan Love threw for three touchdowns, Aaron Jones ran for three more, Darnell Savage returned an interception 64 yards for a score and the Green Bay Packers handed the Dallas Cowboys their first home loss since the 2022 opener in a 48-32 wild-card stunner. Romeo Doubs had a career-high 151 yards receiving a week after being hospitalized with a chest injury. The Packers won Love’s postseason debut after finishing the regular season 6-2 to grab the NFC’s final playoff spot. They will visit top-seeded San Francisco in the divisional round. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions before three mostly empty touchdown passes in another playoff flop for him and the No. 2 seed Cowboys.

Jim Harbaugh To Meet With Chargers

Jim Harbaugh is set to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers about their head coaching vacancy. That’s according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person wasn’t at liberty to publicly discuss personnel moves. Word of Harbaugh’s plans comes one week after he led the University of Michigan to a national title. A person familiar with Harbaugh’s thinking tells the AP that Harbaugh is also considering staying at Michigan. That person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the discussions.

Pesce Scores Two To Beat Penguins

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Brett Pesce scored his second goal of the game at 1:41 of overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. Antti Raanta made a season-high 38 saves and Jordan Martinook also scored for Carolina. The Hurricanes are 7-0-1 since the Christmas break and have at least a point in 14 of 15 games. Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust scored for Pittsburgh. Tristan Jarry stopped 32 shots. Rust tied it at 2 with 52 seconds left in the regulation after coach Mike Sullivan pulled Jarry. With the extra skater on the ice, Rust was able to get the rebound of Erik Karlsson’s shot past Raanta.
