Faulkner Jr. To Serve as Offensive Coordinator; Sullivan Will Call Plays

November 22, 2023 2:55 am

(WPXI) – Hours after announcing that offensive coordinator Matt Canada was relieved of his duties, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced who is leading the offense going forward.  Tomlin said the decision to fire Matt Canada did not come lightly and was his decision alone.  “This is a result-oriented business. To be short, the improvements were not rapid enough or consistent enough for us to proceed,” Tomlin said.  Still, Tomlin said he was “quite confident and excited” for the men who are taking over the duties Canada was responsible for.  Tomlin said coordinating duties are going to running backs coach Eddie Faulkner Jr., while quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan is taking over from a play-calling perspective.  Going forward, Tomlin said he wants to see points and called potential changes within the offense “to be determined.”

Florida State stayed unbeaten, too, though the Seminoles lost quarterback Jordan Travis to a season-ending left leg injury.

Eagles Rally To Beat Chiefs

November 21, 2023 4:33 am

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jalen Hurts ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a go-ahead tush-push score in the fourth quarter, and the Eagles rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Chiefs 21-17 in a Super Bowl rematch. Philadelphia exacted at least a little bit of revenge for its 38-35 loss in February. Its defense shut out Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ prolific in the second half. Kansas City had the ball near midfield with less than 2 minutes to go, but Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a would-be 51-yard touchdown pass slip through his hands, and the Eagles made a stand on fourth down to put the game away.
