Championship to Chinese Taipei
Chinese Taipei went back-to-back, winning their eighth PONY League World Series title, topping Maui, HI, 12-2, in Wednesday night's final.

Tuesday--Eliminations & Division Finals
Chesterfield, VA, Los Mochis, MX, Laredo, TX and Bay County, MI all face elimination games today. The survivors face Chinese Taipei and Maui, HI, the remaining unbeaten teams in the tournament.

\Monday--Delayed Start, Eliminations & Winners Games
Field conditions delayed the start of Monday's action, pushing the scheduled 10:00 am game back to 11:30 am, matching Peters Township, PA and Los Mochis, MX in an elimination game. Paderborn, Germany and Bay County, MI battle to stay alive immediately following the conclusion.

Two winners' bracket games hightlight the evening schedule. Chinese Taipei takes on East Zone champion Chesterfield, VA at 5:30 pm, followed by South Zone winner Laredo, TX against Maui, HI, the West Zone champion. Pirates President Frank Coonelly will address the crowd between games and the new PONY Princess will be announced.

Sunday--End of First Round, Two Eliminations
West Zone champion Maui, won its opening-round game, downing Paderborn, Germany, 9-0, completing the first round.

Game 8--Bay County, MI 12, Washington County, PA 5

Saturday--Day Two
Heavy rains overnight forced the cancellation of the PONY Champions League game and a delay in the start of the World Series triple-header.

Game 3--South Zone champion Laredo, TX rallied twice, including scoring the tying and winning runs in the top of the seventh, downing North Zone champion, Bay County, MI. With one out, Jacob Alaniz singled. One out later, Derick Christman doubled. Julio-Cesar Taboada's infield single tied the game and Guillermo Sauceda singled to score Christman with the go-ahead run. Christman got the win in relief, working the final two innings. Both starting pitchers, Sergio Galvan and Anthony Bernard homered. Laredo moves to Monday night's winners' bracket against the Maui/Paderborn winner (5:30 pm). Bay County faces Washington County in a Sunday elimination game (5:00 pm).

Game 4--Paderborn, Germany sent 11 men to the plate in the first inning and Elian Gentner threw the 21st No-Hitter in World Series history, as the European champions beat Washignton County, PA, 12-0, in five innings. Gentner had a perfect one out into the fourth before walking two batters. Paderborn used tw doubles, three singles, a pair of walks and a hit-batter to score eight times in the first and never looked back. Paderborn plays Maui, HI in the final game of the opening round Sunday (12:00 noon). Washington County faces Bay County, MI in an elimination game Sunday (5:00 pm).

Game 5--Lin, Chen Hsun stroked a two-run home run in the first putting defending champion Chinese Taipei in front to stay, topping Los Mochis, MX, 5-0. The Asia-Pacific Zone champion added two more in the second--Tsai, Yao Yu's RBI groundout and a wild pitch made it 4-0. Lin, Kuan Ting singled home the final run an inning later, putting Chinese Taipei into the winnres' bracket game Monday (5:30 pm) against Chesterfield, VA. Los Mochis outhit the Asia-Pacific squad 5-4 but couldn't cash in any at the plate. The Mexico champions play the Peters Township / Johnstown winner Monday morning (10:00 am).

Opening Day
Game 1--Jair Felix homered, drove in two runs and scored twice to lead Los Mochis, MX to a 4-1 win over Peters Township. Los Mochis took advantage of two Peters Township errors to score twice in the third. Felix homered with one out in the sixth, building a 4-0 lead. Peters Township loaded the bases in the sixth, but settled for a single run when Jacob Orsi drew a two-out walk. Los Mochis plays defending champion Chinese Taipei Saturday evening. Peters Township will face Johnstown, PA in a Sunday afternoon elimination game (2:30 pm).

Game 2--Darren Stanford homered and drove in three runs, Tyler Garner went yard and drove in two runs, pushing Chesterfield, VA to a 14-4 win over Host Area North Johnstown, PA. The East Zone champions broke open a 1-1 game with six runs in the fourth, then plated seven more over the final two frames. Chesterfield advances to Monday's winners' bracket game (5:30 pm) while Johnstown looks to stave off elimination, playing Peters Township Sunday afternoon (2:30 pm).

DICK'S Sporting Goods PONY League World Series
The qualifying tournaments are complete, the bracket is set. The 2016 DICK'S Sporting Goods PONY League World Series opens Friday at Lew Hays PONY Field. All of the games will be available on WJPA-AM (1450) and online via MLB.com and greenesports.net

Tournament play begins Friday at 5:30 pm when Los Mochis, MX takes on Peters Township, PA, making its first-ever appearance in the World Series representing Host Area South. Opening ceremonies follow Game 1. Host Area North Johnstown, PA then faces East Zone champion Chesterfield, VA.

The annual PONY Champions League opens the day Saturday, August 6, at 10 am. Tournament play resumes at 12:00 noon as South Zone champion Laredo, TX takes on the North Zone's Bay County, MI. Action continues at 2:30 pm as Host Washington County, PA faces European Zone champion Paderborn, Germany. Saturday's third game is set for 5:30 pm with Asia-Pacific Zone and defending World Series champion,Chines Taipei to play the Los Mochis/Peters Township winner.

After Sunday morning's Breakfast of Champions, Maui, HI, the West Zone champion, takes on the Paderborn/Washington County winner at 12:00 noon. Then, the double-elimination tournament run ends for two teams. Game 7 (2:30 pm) and Game 8 (5:00 pm) feature squads that lost opening round games. Additional elimination contests are slated for Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 am & 12:30 pm both days. Winners' bracket games are on tap for Monday at 5:30 & 8:00 pm.

The Division Championship games are on Tuesday evening's schedule, starting at 5:30 pm & 8:00 pm. Depending on those results, "If Necessary" games would be played during the day Wednesday (10:00 am / 12:30 pm).

And the 2016 DICK'S Sporting Goods PONY League World Series Championship Game will be played Wednesday, 7:30 pm.
