WPIAL AA Championships (Brackets) Ament sets new standard Donnie Ament won his third WPIAL championship and, in the process, became the WPIAL's winningest individual wrestler. Ament's victory in the 152-pound championship bout moved the Mt. Pleasant senior passed McGuffey's Jeremy Hunter on the all-time wins list with 172 career victories. Three of those victories have come in the WPIAL Finals. Derry's Troy Dolan, a junior, and Mt. Pleasant senior Lee Vanella each won their third WPIAL crowns. Burrell sophmore Jordan Shields won his second straight title, as did West Greene junior Kory Bissett and Highlands senior Nathan Tomporoski. Burrell teammates Shane Welsh, Josh Shields and Damian Mojocha won their first WPIAL titles as the WPIAL Team Tournament runnerup Bucs won four individual titles. Dane Johnson (Shady Side Academy), Cody Renner (West Greene), Alex Evans (Washington), David Pisarcik (Mars) and Paul Snyder (Mt. Pleasant) all won their first WPIAL AA championships. The top six wrestlers in each weightclass advance to the PIAA Southwest AA Regional tournament in Johnstown. WPIAL Team Tournament champion Mt. Pleasant heads the list with 11 wrestlers advancing. Burrell has nine. WPIAL AA Section Tournaments Let's Get It Started The long & winding road for the WPIAL's AA wrestlers began at four Section tournaments.
